VF.com

Design lead for multiple website redesigns and app creations as part of first investment in digital, expanding the print business.

Even in the late aughts, the websites for Condé Nast publications were mainly used as drivers for print subscriptions. VF.com was one of the first to make a real investment in online with a dedicated digital team. I was brought in to help shape a new version of the site to fulfill on a new strategy that covered entertainment, politics, and current events in real-time.

I worked with the digital team, magazine creative team, and publisher to ensure not only visual brand consistency but also consistency in tone. After early success in traffic and ad sales, we got the chance to do it again!

The second iteration was fully responsive for different devices and used web fonts to make the site's visual language fully consistent with the print counterpart. We also built out an immersive photography and video viewing experience with a dark background to showcase the media and offset the experience from the rest of the site. This iteration really set up what the site is today.

I was also lucky enough to work on the first iterations of the Vanity Fair magazine iPad app and an Oscars® voting app in 2011.
